The article focuses on protocols to preserve trust, attribution, and current norms of intellectual creation. But I don’t think the real tension introduced by LLMs is between technology and culture, or between creators and machines.

I propose that the real tension is between two opposing forces:

On one hand, a growing difficulty in figuring out what’s true - the exponential increase in LLM-generated content makes it harder and harder to verify anything or know who to trust.

On the other, an unprecedented democratization of expression - the dramatic reduction in technical barriers means that anyone can now articulate their thoughts clearly, regardless of their formal education or writing skills.
